Britney Spears’ bodyguard, feeling that he should too take part in the action, jumped one of the paparazzi and neutralized him pro-wrestling style. Of course, the other one was busy snapping pictures in the meantime.
Hotel security arrived at the scene and managed to separate the people involved in the brawl, and took them into custody in separate locations. After they placed a non-emergency 311 call the the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police describing the situation. Britney Spears’ bodyguard was charged with misdemeanor assault.
The paparazzi will try to take this opportunity to sue Spears.
I am all for free speech (that’s the excuse paparazzi use to follow and take pictures of celebrities), but I can totally see how it might be just sometimes too much from the star’s point of view such as Britney Spears. Well, that’s what it takes to be famous, you might say, and rightly so. These people worked long and hard (well, everybody but Paris Hilton) to be in the national spotlight, so they should take the good with the bad. They should enjoy the perks such as the money, the preferential treatment and the recognition, but they should be also okay with the down side: hard work, being criticized, made fun of, written lies about in the supermarket tabloids, and yes, being followed and photographed by paparazzi.
However, the paparazzi should also accept the fact that if they push their luck too much, people like Britney Spears will yell “I’ll kill you!” and throw a glass bottle at their heads. By the same token, it’s your birthright to roam the African savanna as much as you want, but if get your head bitten off by a lion, it’s your damn fault.
