Hilary Erhard Duff was born on 28th September, 1987. She is a famous American actress and also a singer. The television show Lizzie McGuire in which Hilary Duff starred gained her prominence. After the success in the TV show, Hilary Duff pursued her career in the film industry.

Early Life and Career:

Born in the city of Houston, Texas, Hilary Duff was the second child of Robert Duff and Susan Colleen. Her father was the owner of a chain of convenience stores and her mother a homemaker. With the encouragement of her mother, Hilary Duff took up acting classes along with her sister Haylie Katherine Duff. Both the sisters won fames in various local productions. The Duff sisters participated the ballet The Nutcracker Suite at the age of 6 and 8 respectively. After this both the sisters wanted to take up acting as a profession and this led to their re-location to California along with their mother. Later the Duff sisters were featured in a number of TV commercials.

Television

Hilary Duff’s early stages of acting involved very small roles. In the year 1998, she played a major role in the film Casper meets Wendy in which she plays the role of a young witch Wendy. After appearing in this film, Hilary later did a supporting role in The Soul Collector which was a television film. The film was based on a novel written by Kathleen Kane. The role won her the Young Artist Award under the ‘Best Performance in the TV Movie’ category.

Lizzie McGuire

After getting successful in the auditions of the family comedy show Lizzie McGuire. The show was based on her personal life and it shows her progression into teen hood. The show was aired in the Disney channel on 12th of January, 2001. It hit a record of drawing in 2.3 million viewers per episode. This led to the popularity of Hilary Duff among the children of ages 7 and 14. After completing her contract of entire sixty two episodes of the show, Disney Productions gave her further opportunities in films and other prime-time television shows.

Film Career:

In the year 2002, Hilary Duff did her first role in a theatrical motion picture named Human Nature. The film was shot before the TV show Lizzie McGuire and also was first shown at the Cannes and Sundance Film Festivals.

Hilary Duff’s first major role was in Agent Cody Banks with Frankie Muniz. It was a family action film. It was released in the year 2003. The film was able to receive positive reviews.
