Jennifer Lopez TV Mini Series Premiere

 
Jennifer Lopez and husband Mark Anthony were prmoting her new several part miniseries titled “El Cantante.” It is about a young singer’s path to stardom and true love (hey, if Jennifer Lopez is involved, you know that the story will go down that line). I haven’t seen it yet, but it will probably be filled with lots of great salsa music. Supposedly, it takes place in new york city, which is the birth place of salsa. J. Lo. is not starring in it per se (she and Mark Anthony served as producers), but she has small cameo rolls.

I am “whitie,” but developed a great deal of appreciation for the Latin culture, music and all. All things Latin started to become cool around the mid-nineties, if I recall correctly. I also remember that Jennifer Lopez played a huge part in it. I think the Latin community owes her a great deal of gratitude. It was great to see how all of the sudden pop music was colored with Latin beats and sounds, and it was better for it. Actually I am surprised that it took so long, because before Jennifer Lopez (way before) there was Carlos Santana who was playing Latin-infused rock way before it was considered cool. And it was probably hurting his carrier more than it was helping it. But now Latin is in, and hopefully here to stay.

In an interview Jennifer Lopez hubby Mark Anthony was joking that he was the ultimate ladies’ accessory, because he was carrying all of J. Lo’s stuff like lipstick etc. He is often criticised for not having underwear-model good looks, but it’s great that some one can excel in today’s shallow values on his talent as a singer. And Mark Anthony is an excellent singer. Of all the high-profile dudes Jeniffer Lopez dated and married, for that matter, he seems like the most genuine and easy-going one.

There was a time that Jennifer Lopez was doing so much dating and marring that I though at that rate even I was gonna get my turn. There is nothing sadder than a woman who is in love with the idea of love itself, but manages to convince herself that she is in love for ever, but in a different guy every three months.

Jennifer Lopez Biography


Believed to be the richest Hispanic in the Hollywood according to the SocialiteLife.com, Jennifer Lynn Lopez is nicknamed as J.Lo. She was born on the 24th of July in the year 1969. Jennifer Lopez is a well known American actress, fashion designer, singer, dancer and songwriter. Jennifer Lopez was named the thirteenth most powerful woman in America by Ladies’ Home journal in the year 2001.

Early Life:

Born in Castle Hills a neighborhood in the Bronx, New York Jennifer Lopez’s entire schooling was carried over in Catholic schools. She was born to Puerto Rican parents. From the time she was 19 years old, Jennifer Lopez started financing herself singing and dancing lessons. Jennifer’s time was divided between a number of tasks like a job in a legal office, dance classes and dance performances at night clubs in Manhattan after leaving the Baruch College where she finished one semester of her studies.

Jennifer Lopez was selected as a dancer for rap artists’ music videos after a number of auditions. Jennifer Lopez gained her first high-profile job as a “Fly Girl’ dancer for TV shows. This success came to her after being rejected twice in the auditions. Very soon after this, Jennifer Lopez became Janet Jackson’s backup dancer. She made her first appearance in Jackson’s video ‘That’s the way Love goes’ in the year 1993. Later she was let go as she was willing to pursue her further career in acting.

Film and Television:

In the year 1997, Jennifer Lopez played the lead role in the film named Salena. It was for this film that she was nominated for the Golden Globe Award under the Best Actress category – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy. Jennifer also has the credit of being the first Latin actresses who was paid more than 1 million dollars for acting in a role for a particular film. Some of the famous films that Lopez acted are The Cell, Selena, Out of The Sight and An Unfinished Life.

Jennifer Lopez also finished shooting two films independently, the names of which are Bordertown and El Cantante. The latter one was shown in the Toronto International Film Festival. The film received positive reviews there. Jennifer Lopez owns a production company by name New Yorican Productions. Both the above stated films were produced by Jennifer Lopez under her own production banner. The film Bordertown was shown in the Brussels Film Festival.

Box office standing:

Though Lopez lacks in her credit list not even a single film that grossed over $100 millions, yet she is the highest paid actresses in the Hollywood and also the highest paid Latin actresses in the Hollywood filmdom. She also has the fame of appearing in the Guinness World Records as the most powerful actress in the year 2007. The Hollywood Reporter’s top ten actresses list has got Jennifer Lopez’s name in the top 10 actress salaries for three consecutive years – 2002, 2003 & 2004. For her role in Monster-in-law Jennifer Lopez received a sum of $15,000,000 as payment.

In the year 2007, Jennifer Lopez received the Artists Amnesty international award in recognition of her work as producer and star of Bordertown.
