Female bodybuilding contests started in the 60’s. However these contests weren’t more than girls showing off in bikinis. They wore high heels and weren’t allowed to pose.

The true beginnings of female bodybuilding are in the early ’80s. This also marked the beginning of a long chain controversies about the sport. When most people look at a female bodybuilder, if she is a real bodybuilder, they may not be all that pleased with what they see. Too much muscle may have an adverse affect on people’s reaction. The same effected judges of early body builder contests. The ladies would try to get bigger and bigger following the lead of their male counter parts. Judges on the other hand felt that they had some kind of an obligation to keep women feminine. First, they impose rules on contestants that were designed to prevent them from getting bigger than desired if they wanted a shot at the title. Of course, that met with some backlash. The most famous scandal came in the early 1990’s when judges of the Ms. International contest picked a winner who was only 130 pounds at 5′7″ while there were other female bodybuilders who were much bigger and more developed. The crowd went crazy and Arnold Schwarzenegger reportedly had to intervene by going on stage where he said “the hell with the judges.” The crowd favorite was a woman weighing 162 pounds.

It is no secret that if it weren’t for anabolic steroids (such as the human growth hormone) there wouldn’t be modern body building as we know it today. While doping is illegal, and anabolic steroids are as well, it doesn’t keep athletes from using them. They just make sure they get off of them long enough before the contests so that they are not caught during testing. This may not seem to be a big deal for guy bodybuilders, we are use to seeing muscle heads, but when female bodybuilders resort to the use of steroids, it can have some unpleasant visual side effects. While it is in everybody’s right to look anyway they want (if they can pull it off), it may be that people’s reaction to a the sight of a super-buff woman will never be 100% positive. Even if no security net during the testing catches athletes who use steroids, the bodily transformation of those women speak for itself. It’s not just the size of muscles of the female bodybuilders in certain parts of their bodies such as the arm and the leg muscles, but every other muscle as well such as the jaw muscles. They, too, get big giving the athletes a not-very-feminine look. They are basically transforming themselves into men, that’s how they can look that big.

Hot rods are basically customised cars form the 1930’s thru the late seventies. People usually pull the donor vehicle (the car that the end product hot rod is designed and built around) out of a field or somebody’s back yard where they have been sitting for a long time building up rust.

The video you see on this page was shot in Henderson, NV in 2007. What I gathered was that it was a spur-of-the-moment car show. One of the local radio stations organized it to promote itself. I had my camcorder on me as I drove by the hot rods, so I decided to stop by and take a closer look. As you can tell from the footage, some people live for their hot rod and end up investing a lot of money into them. I guess you have to. The lot of these cars start out pretty rough. If they are not, they usually get sold off to people who like to restore them to their original splendor as opposed to chopping and customizing the hell out of them. The further you go back in year, the rarer these cars are, and if you found one that has been garaged, or even sitting in a barn, it would be basically a sin to alter them in a major way.

So, major work is reserved for vehicles that have been neglected for a long time, and these are the ones that become hot rods. Some of the modifications that are common to these hot rods are a lowered suspension, possibly an air ride (inflatable rubber tubes replacing the springs) for a smoother ride and adjustable ride height. You can also often see a custom interior (maybe even a one-of-a-kind dashboard, as you can see in some of the hot rods in the video), and a unique paint job often involving depictions of flames coming over the hood and fenders. But the heart of a hot rod is the engine. They usually have to be big and often super charged. Displacements usually start from 350 cubic inches (Chevy makes a very popular small block V8 in this size that has been a favorite with hot rodders for a long time), but it is not uncommon to see such murderous overkills such as big block 500+ cubic inch motors. For those of you on the metric system, we are talking about 5.7L in case of the 350, and about 8.1L in case of a 502. These hot rod engines can pump out anywhere 250-600+ horsepower without braking a sweat.

Yes, these hot rods consume a lot of fuel. To make things worse, the more modified the engine is, the higher grade the fuel has to be, and in extreme cases they require racing fuel (a mixture of gasoline and methanol) which is even more expensive. To get around this problem (or at lest put a dent on it) a friend who lives in Los Angeles want to put a diesel in his thirty something Chevrolet hot rod in the works. First I thought that was weird, but the more I think about it the cooler it sounds. Plus this way, he’s going to be able to use bio diesel in his hot rod.

Breeding standards focus more on the weight and general description of the overall look of the dog, but do not specify height. As a result, the height varies of these dogs will vary greatly. Height at the wither is usually between 5-10 inches, but some dogs may reach 13-15 inches by adulthood. The American standard requires the animals to be no more than 6.0 lb (2.7 kg). The international (FCI) standard is set between 1.5 and 3.0 kg (3.3 to 6.6 lb), but smaller sizes are also accepted. Chihuahuas kept as pets, however, may be larger and may reach as much as 10 pound in weight. This does not mean that you are not dealing with purebred Chihuahua puppies, it just means that they will not be accepted in a conformation show.

The the official American standard definition for acceptable colors is “Any color-Solid, marked or splashed.” This allows for a variety of colors: Blue, Chocolate, Cream, Red, Fawn, and Black.

Patterns are allowed with or with out markings. Some of the more common patterns are: extreme white spotting, brindle, Irish spotting, tan points, masks, piebald spotting, sable and merle.

Chihuahuas are famous for being devoted to their owners, their ferocity and personality. They are perfect for smaller living environments such as the city and apartments small in size. Chihuahuas seem to be infamous for being loud and unpleasant, but with the right training and discipline they are well behaved.

However, Chihuahuas are not usually recommended when small children are in the picture. Their temper and the habit of biting when startled/frightened are an obvious liability. The youngest recommended age before a child should have a chihuahua as pet is 12+ years of age. In addition, they are very possessive of their owners and have been known to not take kindly to ones human companion. Chihuahuas also have the tendency to prefer the company of other chihuahuas over other dogs. Chihuahuas don’t seem to realize that they are some of the smallest dogs out there, and will provoke dogs several times of their size which can result in serious injury.

If you do decide to get a Chihuahua puppy, prepare to deal with some health issues. Veterinary attention will be required when they give birth and when it comes to their teeth. They are also prone to have neurological issues namely seizure disorders and epilepsy. Another genetic abnormality that often ails chihuahuas (and other toy breeds) is a condition known as hydrocephalus, or water on the brain. It usually develops at an early age in the life of chihuahua puppies usually before six months of age. There are some warning signs of these condition such as a unusually large scull and patchy scull plates, but it is best to see a professional for an accurate diagnosis.

Chihuahua puppies are also the only breed of dog that are born with an incomplete scull. The problem fixes itself in the first few months of life, but taking special care is paramount.

Chihuahuas are also known to tremble when excited and/or nervous. This is not a health problem. It is due to the dogs higher rate of metabolism.

You can expect your chihuahua puppies to live anywhere between 8-18 years of age.
