Singer Pink’s Biography

Pink, the singer and performer, was born Alecia Beth Moore in Doylestown, Pennsylvania to Vietnam vet James Moore and medical caretaker Judy Kugel. She is of Jewish lineage on her mom’s side, and is Irish on her daddy’s side. Pink has labeled herself as Jewish. She was brought up in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, where she went to Central Bucks West High School. Her daddy played the guitar and sang songs for her, and from an early age she dreamed to be a rock star. While in high school, Pink joined up with her first music band in high school called Middleground, which never earned recognition beyond local status. As shown by Pink, her greatest influences are Steven Tyler, Indigo Girls, Bad Religion, Janis Joplin, Mary J. Blige, Bob Marley, Billy Joel, 2Pac, Don McLean and The Notorious B.I.G.

Singer Pink fostered her singing voice very early in life. Though a healthy newborn at birth, she hurriedly developed asthma that plagued her through her younger years. When she was a young teenager, Pink wrote lyrics as as a way to express her emotions, and her mother commentated, “Her initial writings were always really meditative. Some of it was very cheerless, and certainly deep, essentially upsetting.” She began performing in Philadelphia clubs while she was fourteen years old. At sixteen, she became a part of the R&B Atlanta-based trio called Choice, which included Chrissy Conway of The Christian young female band ZOEgirl. The bunch signed with LaFace Records and contributed “Key to My Heart” to the soundtrack of The 1996 film Kazaam. Choice ultimately split after recording an unreleased album; singer Pink stuck around at LaFace as a solo act under the stage name Pink. Daryl Simmons took her to recordings where she sang backing vocals for virtuosos such as Kenny Lattimore, Diana Ross, 98 Degrees, and Tevin Campbell. Pink’s debut single, The club track “Gonna Make Ya Move (Don’t Stop)”, was released in The UK in 1998 by Activ Records and appeared on The UK cover 200.

Pink appeared as herself in The films Ski to The Max (2000) and Rollerball (2002). After her cameo appearance in Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle, she appeared in The horror movie Catacombs, which co-stars Shannyn Sossamon. “It’s pretty intense”, she said. “It’s not only a sort of slasher type, creepy film; it’s furthermore psychological and shows how mean and vicious siblings can be to each other. I liked that lead role of it.” She was once on the short list of customers to play Janis Joplin in an upcoming biopic titled Gospel According to Janis, however she chose not to, saying it would be disrespectful to Joplin because the cinema makers didn’t wish to say she died of a heroin overdose. “All I can say at this point is that if Janis wants the motion picture to be made, it is going to be made”, Pink said in 2006.

Sony Pictures Entertainment has conveyed interest in making a 2nd sequel to Charlie’s Angels, as has star and producer Drew Barrymore, who is reportedly considering Pink for a role in the cinema. Pink said, “I hope that I get to play my lead as a bad girl.”
