Let me explain what I mean. I have never had anything against black people until I moved to Las Vegas. The reason being that I didn’t know a lot of African Americans (I lived in Iowa. Need I say more?). I went to school with a bunch of kids from Africa, and by and large they were good people. However, that changed when I moved to Las Vegas and landed a job as a valet attendant. On hip hop night, I only had a fraction of the money in my pocket from tips as I would have on any other night. It’s no secret that black people aren’t big on tipping. That made me mad a lot of times. It wasn’t that they just didn’t have money. If you don’t have money, don’t take advantage of a service where it is customary to tip. Self park. It’s as easy as that. But most often than not, they seemed to have gotten a kick out of stiffing me. I am not a racist, I just hate being taken advantage off.
Now, let’s talk about women. I am sick and tired that, for instance, guys have to put up with your emotional swings not just at home, but even at the work place, because if they don’t they are labelled a sexist pig. Ever since the sixties when the the emancipation movement took off, women have been silencing their critics by playing the sex card. I can’t even say that “Lady, get off the phone, ’cause you can barely drive the car with both hands on the wheel let alone while yapping away.” Women and driving aren’t the best match in the world. If I point that out, I am not sexist, I am merely observant.
And finally, Israel. Please note that I didn’t say Jews. I have Jewish friends and I actually have great admiration for the religion itself. But, when entire apartment buildings are leveled by fighter-jet-fired missiles, because suspected terrorists are in those buildings, I am sorry: I can’t help but be outraged by it.
But I am not too worried, though. Firstly, I am still a white male, and this is still a white man’s world. Even though, I hate that I have to take being shamed thorough guilt, my “kind” still has the upper hand; and consciously or unconsciously, people will find a way to fight back. The unfortunate consequence is that the issues of racism, sexism and other forms of discrimination are being perpetuated. Blacks are still having a hard time getting the same jobs as whites in certain parts of the country, and women are still only getting 75 cents for every dollar a man earns for the same work. But now you know: the causes of discrimination are a two way street.

As a black American I do not see you as a racist based on your situation. I try not to look at things from a racist and sexist point of veiw. These drastic things are what our government uses to keep us apart in their ” divide and conqer” tactic. I am sorry, but it will not work on me. Everyone had their own struggles in their own ways. In a sense I can see where you are coming from.
