Charlie Sheen Speaks Out

Carlie Sheen and Denise Richards have been locked in a divorce battle for a while now. It has been ugly and often publicized in the supermarket tabloids. While it was usually wife Denise Richards who made her voice heard while Charlie was boozing, womanizing and doing drugs (as a matter of fact, a friend of mine ended up doing lines of coke with Carlie Sheen in his limo one time totally by accident). Now he decided to go public and give an interview about some of the fine details of the divorce proceedings.

Charlie Sheen decided to speak out about three different things in the divorce deal that he wanted to be changed or amended. Firstly, he wanted an extra weekend a month to spend with his kids. It seemed like it was the least of the issues that needed to be addressed. The second matter it seems like is that Denise Richards wanted her own nanny to go over and assist with the girls when they were over at Charlie’s house. According to him, it has resulted in a situation where the help hired by his wife would feed information back to Denise Richards. In a way, she was spying on him. It may also be the case that not all of the information passed on was accurate and that it may have contributed to the further deterioration of the situation. Charlie Sheen wants to be able to legally hire his own people to look after the kids while it’s his turn to be with them. The third issue he wants to be addressed is that he wants phone calls by Denise Richards to his house while he is trying to spend quality time with his kids limited to times when there is an emergency. As Charlie Sheen put it: “I don’t want twenty phone calls to my house, if there is a problem I’ll call.” Sounds perfectly reasonable, doesn’t it? She probably calls all the time for made-up reasons just to show whose boss.

No one is questioning the reason why Denise Richards may want to be permanently separated from Carlie Sheen. He is probably no saint. (On the other hand, the only thing going for Denise is her looks which have been going to the dogs, ’cause she ain’t getting younger, and lets face it, she is not the the sharpest tool in the shed.) It seems, though, that we have a classic case of wanting to hurt the other one through the kids. In anybody’s book, that’s a horrible thing to do. If you decide to go your separate ways, go ahead and do it, but don’t make the kids suffer any more than they have to. Divorces are always hard on kids. Instinct compels us to see security in the unity and harmony of the family. Losing that usually means the end of the world. The Charlie Sheens and Denise Richardses of the world need to understand that they are doing irreparable damage to the only thing that truly matters in the world: their own flash and blood.
