Gwen Stefani is a well known America singer, fashion designer, songwriter and also an actress, but occasionally. Her debut in to film acting took place in the year 1992 in the film No Doubt. Stefani’s first album recording took place in the year 2004. The name of the album is Love.Angel.Music.Baby.

Early Life

Gwen Renee Stefani was born on 3rd October, 1969. She was born and brought up in Fullerton, California. She grew up in a Roman Catholic household. Gwen Stefani is the name which her mother selected for her from two different concepts – Gwen is named after a stewardess in the novel Airport (1968) and her middle name Renee is taken from the song Walk Away Renee from The Left Banke’s (1968). Gwen Stefani’s father was a marketing executive in Yamaha and her mother worked as an accountant and then settled down as a homemaker. Stefani was interested in music since her childhood. Her first on-stage performance was during a talent show in Loara High School. After finishing her schooling in the year 1987, Gwen Stefani then joined the California State University, Fullerton in order to continue her graduation.

Music Career

1986 – till date

Gwen Stefani’s elder brother Eric was a key board artist. It was he who introduced Gwen Stefani to 2 Tone music. In the year 1986 Gwen Stefani was given a chance to provide vocals for No Doubt. It was a ska brand that Eric was forming. A self-titled music album was released by the band in the year 1992 but was unsuccessful in the market. Tragic Kingdom, the third album that was released by No Doubts in the year 1995 almost took three years for its completion. When Stefani was working with the band she became close Tony Kanal, one of the band mates. During the time Tragic Kingdom was being made, the band almost split as there was a break in the relationship between Gwen Stefani and Tony Kanal. In order to take part in the touring of the Tragic Kingdom, Gwen Stefani left college after finishing only one semester. But she was not able to continue with her college studies as the touring of Tragic Kingdom took almost two and half years to complete. But the album was a great success as it sold more than sixteen million copies worldwide and even won several Grammy awards.

Apart from working with No Doubt, Gwen Stefani also worked with for some other singles like “South side” and “Let Me Blow Ya Mind” with Eve and Mobby. The year 2002 saw the winning of Grammy Award to Stefani.

Solo Career

In November, 2004 Gwen Stefani released her first debut album Love.angel.Music.Baby. Her debut album hit the Billboard 200 on the #7 position. The album also sold 309,000 copies in the United States and United Kingdom. Gwen Stefani’s second album was released in the the year 2006. The name of the album was The Sweet Escape. Mixed review critics were also received by the album.
