Jessica Claire Biel was born on 3rd March, 1982. She is an American actress and a former British Model. She is well known for her role in the long-running family-drama series named 7th Heaven. The name of her character in that series was Mary Camden.

Early Life

Jessica Biel hails from a number of descents – German, French, English, Irish and Choctaw Native American. She was born in a place name Ely, Minnesota. Her father was Jonathan Edward Biel and her mother was Kimberly Conroe. Her surname is actually the name of a German Knight ‘von Biel’. When Jessica Biel was very young, her family re-located to Boulder, Colorado. Jessica was raised in this place only. Jessica Biel has a younger brother named Justin. She aspired to perform in musical theatres as a vocalist and got trained to become so. She even appeared in several musicals like Annie, Beauty and the Beast, Anything goes and The Sound of Music. Jessica Biel appeared in all these musicals at a very young age.

Jessica Biel’s career started to progress as a fashion model in the year 1994, when she attended the International Modeling & Talent Association Convention that was held in Los Angeles. She landed up in the role of Mary Camden in the family-drama series 7th Heaven at the age of 14. It was this debut that gave her career a break. The following year when Jessica was 15 years old, her career in the film industry began. In the year 2002, Jessica Biel also became the spokesperson for the cosmetic company L’Oreal. This was apart from her acting profession.

In the year 2000, a controversy cropped up regarding Jessica Biel because of her posing topless at the young age of 17 for the layout of Gear magazine. Jessica Biel claimed that her saintly role in the 7th Heaven limited her from getting chances in films and this act of her could relieve her from the 7th Heaven assignment. But she later regretted about that controversy and said that it was like a learning experience. Jessica Biel later resigned the assignment 7th Heaven from 2001-2002. After this she focused completely on her film career and since then she even appeared in a very minimal TV shows.

After completing the assignment 7th Heaven, Jessica Biel started doing projects that were focused on young adults and teens. Such films include Summer Catch released in the year 2001, Rules of Attraction that was released a year later and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre that was released in the year 2003. All these moves turned out to be mild hits at the box office. They also received mixed reviews. The reviews comprised of equal negatives and positives. The year 2005 saw Jessica Biel featuring in the film Blade: Trinity. Even this was not as successful as expected.

This led Jessica Biel to stay away from the filmdom for almost a period of three continuous years. After a three years break Jessica Biel once again appeared in the final series of her debut show 7th Heaven and surprised her fans. This happened in May, 2006.
