I am an Internet marketing person, so when I was doing some research for something unrelated, it struck me that there were a lot of people looking for free obituary templates online. (Since, if you are reading this and otherwise looking for sample obituary formats to use, it probably means that you lost some one close to you. I offer my condolences.)
The other odd thing that struck me was that weren’t a lot of websites offering help regarding this issue. Considering that so many people were looking for this type of information, I decided to put my search engine marketing skills to use, and decided to further digging hoping to find something useful for everyone.
Well, it turns out that finding usable information about free obituary templates wasn’t completely hopeless. Here the websites and the few web pages I found that you might find helpful:
ObituaryGuide.com - Here you can find sample obituary formats to give you some idea how to write your own. It also offers writing tips and other useful advice.
FuneralHomes.com - Obviously, this is a place of business, but these guys are so cool they they offer free obituary templates right on their website.
ArmchairAdvice.co.uk - This guy just put up a sample obituary for people to take a look at. It is nothing fancy, but at least it gives you some idea.
ObitNow.com - This is a true free obituary template site. They ask you to sign up and create your account. You do have the option to make the obituary hidden to others, they recommend that you leave it open. It is because if you wrote the obituary for yourself, the next of kin will have access to it.
McCallBros.com - Again, this is a funeral home, but they are offering some basic info on how to do a how to do a obituary properly online.
Obituaryhelp.com - This website claims to crate perfectly custom obituaries for you after answering a few questions. Unfortunately, this service is not free. It will cost you $15.
I hope that you will find this article and the free obituary templates I found online useful and adequate. It may be a good idea to consider one of the paid services though. (No, I do not have any affiliations with them, in case you were wondering.) At a time of grief, it may be not such a good idea for you to let the nitty-gritty details to some one who does this for a living.
